At Keck Computer & Security, old technology from a home, garage, or office does not have to sit in a landfill or leave the shop with files still on the drive. Most drop-offs are free. We wipe or physically destroy storage here before the hardware goes out for material recycling.

What we take
Free drop-off
No fee on these items:
- Desktop towers, laptops, servers, boards, RAM, power supplies, video cards, cables
- Desktop printers, fax machines, copiers, scanners, shredders
- Tablets, phones, smartwatches, routers, modems, keyboards, mice, docks
Handling fee
Call or ask at the counter for the current rate:
- Tube TVs and CRT monitors (lead glass)
- Wood-box speakers (mixed material)
Active Smart Monitoring ($10/mo) or Continuous Care ($20/mo) members get a discount on those fees at the counter.
Questions
Before you load the car
What happens to data on old computers or phones?
Before a computer, laptop, hard drive, or phone leaves for recycling, we wipe or physically destroy the storage on the bench — hard drives, SSDs, and flash. Documents, banking files, and photos do not go out with the chassis.
Do I need to pull the hard drive first?
No, unless you want to keep it. We pull storage for destruction. If you want the drive back, or converted to an external backup, say so at the counter.
Is standard recycling free?
Almost everything is free. The exceptions are tube TVs/monitors and wood-cabinet speakers.
Any discount on TV or speaker fees?
Yes, if you are on Smart Monitoring or Continuous Care. Mention it at the counter.
Can a business drop off a bulk cleanout?
Yes. Call (717) 375-0134 first so we can hold bench space and quote commercial processing.
Do I need an appointment?
Not for a normal household drop-off. Walk in at 875 Lincoln Way West during shop hours.
